Information

Hello -

I was reading a story from a 19th century edition of the 'Sydney Morning Herald' recently that described the towns of the Blue Mountains of New South Wales (where I live) as 'Hill Stations'.  In researching India's hill stations I have came across a claim that the word 'Nilgiris' comes from the Sanskrit and literally translates into 'Blue Mountains'.  Can someone tell me if this is correct?

(Looking around the web, the Nilgiri district seems very beautiful and worth a visit!)

Thank you in advance.

Staying in Masinagudi
We have just visited the Nilgiris and Mudumalai Tiger reserve, and it was great having looked at your web site before we came. Please can you update it with some places to stay in and around Masinagudi? We stayed at Bear Mountain in Bokkapuram and it was great!

Request
Hi, this site is an excellent guide for Ooty and the natural products availbale there. It would be great, if you can also provide the contacts where we will be able to buy products like Winter Green Oil. My mother used this oil once and she says this was the best pain releiver. Unfortunately, I do not know where this product is available in chennai. Any ideas will be of great help. Thanks for the nice info on this site. (Editor's Note: Thanks for your kind words - We're a new site and are working to improve it daily. Our current project is to add a restaurant guide, and after that we'll be adding a list of suppliers of local produce.)
